Call For Speakers

TEDxSanaa will take place on Monday, December 31, 2012 in Sana’ and will hence become the first licensed TEDx event in the country. The theme of the conference is (Inspiring Hope)

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. For more information, visit ted.com/tedx and TED.com.

At TEDxSanaa, TEDTalks videos and live speakers from the Yemen will spark deep discussion and connection through presentations that are 18 minutes or less. For more information on the TEDxSanaa event, visit http://www.TEDxSanaa.com.

Who should apply?

Are you a dynamic speaker? Have you done something that have inspired or changed large or small? Do you want to share your ideas and energize other people? If so, you are eligible to apply.

Why should I apply?

TEDxSanaa will give you a platform to foster learning, inspiration and wonder, and to spark a debate that is relevant to all Yemenis in Yemen and abroad. High quality video recordings of all TEDxSanaa speakers will also be submitted to TED with the possibility of having them featured on TED.com, which receives more than 1 million unique visitors per month.

How do I apply?

First method:

Fill in and submit the speaker application form (http://www.tedxsanaa.com/pages/apply/apply-speaker/) and submit it by the deadline.

Second method:

Create an application video that’s 3 minutes or less send it to contact@tedxsanaa.com to upload it directly or provide the video’s URL.

In the video, you need to provides the following information:

- Your name, where you are based, your profession and title

- Your topic and a little bit of detail about what you want to share through TEDxSanaa

- Why your topic deserves to be selected and how it fits the theme of TEDxSanaa

What does a TEDxSanaa talk look like?

Beware that TEDx talks are totally different from conventional regular conference speeches. The format of a TEDxSanaa talk would be similar to TEDx talks given in different TEDx events in the region. The default language would be in Arabic so it would be useful to watch some of the talks of TEDx that were held in the region to get an idea of the format and style of TEDx speeches:

Important Dates

November 1, 2012 at midnight – Deadline for speaker applications, nominations
November 15, 2012 – Speakers selected
November 30, 2012 – Selected speakers required to submit their final talks in the form of presentation slides (if required) and talk script
Mid December – Rehearsals/coaching for the selected speakers
Dec 31, 2012 – TEDxSanaa event
